Biography in English

Moritz Körner, born in 1990, is Secretary General of the FDP North Rhine-Westphalia, member of the presidium of the FDP and a member of the state executive committee of the FDP North Rhine-Westphalia. He is a member of the European Parliament since May 2019. Moritz Körner is a member of the committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and the committee on Budgets. He was negotiator of the Renew Europe group for the Multiannual Financial Framework and currently serves as its negotiator for E-Evidence. Furthermore he was Renew Europe´s shadow rapporteur for the Rule of Law Mechanism. Moritz Körner is also a member of the delegation for the relations with the People’s Republic of China and a substitute in the delegation for the relations with the Republic of India.

He was the leading candidate of the FDP North Rhine-Westphalia for the European elections in 2019. Prior he was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament and spokesperson of the parliamentary investigatory committee on the Amri case, better known as the Berlin Christmas market terror attack. From 2013 until 2018, Körner was the chairman of Young Liberals North Rhine-Westphalia, the Youth wing of the FDP.

Moritz Körner, geboren 1990, ist Generalsekretär der FDP NRW, Mitglied im Präsidium der FDP und beratendes Mitglied im Landesvorstand der FDP NRW. Seit Mai 2019 ist er Mitglied des Europäischen Parlaments und innenpolitischer und haushaltspolitischer Sprecher der FDP im Europäischen Parlament, sowie Mitglied in den Delegationen für die Beziehungen zur Volkrepublik China und zu Indien. Er war Berichterstatter der Renew Europe-Fraktion im Europäischen Parlament für den Mehrjährigen Finanzrahmen und ist dies aktuell für die Verordnung zu elektronischen Beweismitteln in Strafsachen (E-Evidence). Darüber hinaus war Körner Verhandlungsführer der Renew Europe-Fraktion für den Rechtsstaatsmechanismus durch den EU-Gelder an die Einhaltung von rechtsstaatlichen Standards geknüpft wurden.

Moritz Körner war Spitzenkandidat der FDP Nordrhein-Westfalen zur Europawahl 2019. Zuvor war er von 2017 bis 2019 Landtagsabgeordneter für die FDP im Nordrhein-Westfälischen Landtag und war dort Obmann des parlamentarischen Untersuchungsausschusses zum Fall Amri, dem Berliner Weihnachtsmarktattentäter. Von 2013 bis 2018 war Körner, Vorsitzender der Jungen Liberalen in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
